ABNA24 - Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili, the Grand Mufti of Oman, in response to the war against Iran and recent regional developments, expressed his sorrow over human casualties and the destruction of civilian infrastructure. He emphasized the necessity of maintaining Muslim unity and avoiding sectarian divisions.

Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili, the Grand Mufti of Oman, stated in a message regarding recent regional developments and the war against Iran that what the Muslim countries in the Persian Gulf are witnessing as a result of "blatant American-Zionist aggression" is a cause for deep regret.

He noted the human toll and extensive damages, stating that a large number of innocent lives have been targeted, civilian facilities destroyed, and public interests harmed. According to him, alongside these damages, there is also the danger of escalating conflict and igniting strife among the children of the Islamic Ummah.

The Omani Mufti stressed that Muslims must be vigilant against the enemy's attempts to create divisions among Islamic sects, as fueling internal strife is one of their most effective tools for advancing their objectives. He added that in such circumstances, the duty of Muslims is to preserve unity, avoid sectarian rhetoric, and strengthen the values of brotherhood and solidarity among the Islamic Ummah. "And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided." (Al Imran: 103)

Al-Khalili reminded Muslims that they are united by one religion, one book, and one Qibla: "Indeed, the believers are brothers." [Al-Hujurat: 10] and "Indeed, this, your Ummah, is one Ummah, and I am your Lord, so worship Me." [Al-Anbiya: 92]. He also referred to the principles of Islamic Sharia, stating that while Islam recognizes the right to resist aggression and confront injustice, it simultaneously emphasizes adherence to fairness and justice, and does not permit the attack on innocent individuals and civilians. "Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely." [Al-Ma'idah: 32].

He asserted that targeting areas and facilities unrelated to the war or attacking civilians by any party is condemned and constitutes exceeding the bounds of Islamic justice. "And do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors." (Al-Baqarah 2:190).

The Grand Mufti of Oman further urged Muslims not to neglect the cause of Palestine, considering it the primary cause of the entire Islamic world. He emphasized that efforts must be unified to support the Palestinian people and confront the occupation, which, in his words, is the root of many regional crises.

Al-Khalili concluded by praying to God to protect the lands of Muslims from conflict, grant wisdom and insight to their leaders, and unite them on the path of truth, justice, and peace.
